Slight increase in household borrowing in July

Household borrowing grew fractionally in July.

Reserve Bank figures show seasonally adjusted total household borrowing rose a tenth of a percent to $184.5 billion in July, after a 0.2% rise.

The annual rate of increase in total borrowing slipped to 1.1%, from 1.2% where it had been for the last five months.

Housing-related borrowing grew 1.3% from a year ago, while consumer borrowing eased 1.2%.
