The Ibis in Christchurch will be the first hotel to re-open in the central city since the February earthquake last year.
Manager Tim Dearsley says earthquake strengthening and cosmetic repairs on the building are complete and an engineering report has been signed off by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority.
Mr Dearsley says the eight-storey hotel will be hiring almost 60 new staff and the 155 hotel rooms will be ready for guests in early September.
The Rendezvous Hotel was to be the first to open, but work on it was stopped by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority in March when an engineering report showed the structure was still not safe.
