A section of Gloucester Street in central Christchurch is closed for up to four weeks while buildings are demolished.

The street was closed between Oxford Terrace and the Isaac Theatre Royal from Monday, while the Farmers and Crystal Plaza buildings are pulled down.

The tower section of the Farmers building will be demolished using a crane, and a high reach excavator will do the rest.
