Stadium inspected for damage

Engineers are inspecting AMI Stadium in Christchurch for damage from Saturday's earthquake.

No one has been allowed into the stadium, but venues event manager Peter Maddock says an external view of the facilities has not shown any problems.

Mr Maddock says corporate boxes will have suffered some minor damage, but he's sure there won't be any structural issues with the stands.

A clearance on the stadium is hoped-for by midweek.

The Canterbury rugby team is not due to play at AMI stadium again until 25 September.
