Single currency flagged for NZ and Australia

6:38 pm on 4 April 2012

The New Zealand and Australian Productivity Commissions have flagged the idea of having a single currency for the countries.

The commissions have been asked to look at ways to promote closer economic relations.

They say there are some outstanding issues to be resolved, including business reporting requirements and consumer laws.

In a discussion paper, the productivity commissions say there are positives and negatives associated with a single currency and they want public feedback on the idea.
