Road rage murder trial aborted

4:00 pm on 14 November 2012

The murder trial of a man accused of fatally stabbing another man in a road rage incident in Wellington has been aborted.

Shayd Robinson, 20, went on trial in Monday in the High Court at Wellington over the death of Aaron Hadfield in January.

However, on Wednesday morning Justice Young dismissed the jury, as one of the jurors had discovered they knew information about the case which would have disqualified them from jury service.

Earlier in the week another juror was excused from further service and Justice Young said it would have been unfortunate to carry on with 10.

Mr Robinson has been remanded in custody until a date for a new trial can be set.
