Travel between Australia - New Zealand could get even easier under proposals agreed in Queenstown on Saturday.
Prime ministers Julia Gillard and John Key decided to look at ways of further streamlining travel.
Australia is going to spend $8 million on the trial of fast-track automated technology for departures from Australia.
Ms Gillard said there is good reason to make trans-Tasman travel as simple as possible.
