Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that burned through scrub close to Wanganui Airport.
The large fire began about midday on Saturday and was fought using an aeroplane carrying water, a helicopter with a monsoon bucket and about 30 firefighters on the ground.
The airport managed to continue operating, despite the fire.
