Parade held to mark Territorial Force amalgamation

A parade has been held to mark the amalgamation of battalions in the army reserve, also known as the territorial forces.

Governor General, Sir Jerry Mateparae, presided over the parade at Government House in Wellington.

The Defence Force announced in February last year its intention to cut the army reserve by 600 positions to 1200 and merge six battalions into three.

It says cutting personnel and merging the battalions will save $9.25 million.
