Originally, the final agreement for SkyCity to build a $402 million convention centre in Auckland was expected to be ready on 14 June.

That date was extended until 30 June, but has now been pushed out until this Friday, 5 July.

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce says good progress has been made on an agreement that runs to a few hundred pages.

He says it makes sense to take a few more days to ensure all details are sorted.

SkyCity agreed to build the centre, in return for Government concessions that include an extended licence, an extra 230 gaming machines and up to 60 gaming tables.
