A New Zealander has been arrested on drug charges in Bali.

She has been named by local media as 38-year-old Leeza Tracey Ormsby, who is thought to live in New South Wales.

The head of Denpasar's drug squad says she was in possession of 159 grams of "shabu", or methamphetamine, at a house.

The ministry says the New Zealand embassy in Jakarta is providing support and has visited the woman. It says the embassy's role is to monitor her welfare and ensure she has the same rights as other detainees in Indonesia.
