The family of the 17-year-old man are with him in hospital, as police investigate the cause of his injuries.

He was found on Peach Parade shortly before 9pm yesterday and is in an induced coma in hospital.

Police originally had trouble identifying the man as he had no identification of any kind, although he was wearing some distinctive items of clothing, including a Mickey Mouse watch and a pair of Geox trainers which are not commonly available in New Zealand.

Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Saunders said police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything in the area of Peach Parade, Remuera between the hours of 5pm and 9pm last night.

Anyone who may be able to assist the police has been asked to contact the Auckland City Crime Squad on (09) 302 6557.
