Man arrested over south Auckland nightclub shooting

A man has been arrested over a shooting outside a Manukau nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg after a fight broke out between two groups of people outside the club on Cavendish Drive at 2.30am on Sunday.

Counties Manukau police confirmed this morning they had arrested a 25-year-old man over the shooting.

He has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, discharging a firearm with intent to cause bodily harm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He is expected to appear in the Manukau District Court today.

The victim of the shooting has now been released from hospital.

Police said they could not rule out the possibility that further people will be charged.
