Drunk unlicensed teen driver crashes car

5:29 pm on 22 October 2017

A drunk 15-year-old crashed and rolled a vehicle in Alexandra last night, with one of his parents among the three passengers.

Police said the teenager, who did not hold a driver's licence, was so drunk he had difficulty standing.

All of the passengers were also drunk.

Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk Police said the incident was a disaster waiting to happen.

He said the youth was uncooperative and was arrested for refusing to take a breath test.

He later returned a blood alcohol reading in excess of the adult limit.

Mr Kerrisk said the teenager would be referred to Youth Aid.

He said it was sheer luck the group in the people mover didn't end up killing themselves.
