Charges have been upgraded against two teenagers accused of being involved in a machete and knife attack on a police officer.
The pair, aged 14 and 16, are due to appear in court in Hamilton on Monday charged with attempted murder.
Police earlier charged them with assault.
The incident occurred when an officer was called to a house in Pukete, north of Hamilton, following reports of two men fighting at about 5pm on Boxing Day.
They say the tip of the machete struck the officer's baton, deflecting it and saving him from harm.
