Court supports decision to ground charter company

The Court of Appeal has backed a decision by the Civil Aviation Authority to ground airline charter company Air National while it investigates possible safety breaches.

The authority suspended Air National's air operator certificate in January ago after a routine audit found evidence training records had been falsified.

Air National has been operating the Christchurch to Hokitika route for Air New Zealand.

It appealed against the suspension in the High Court, which ruled it should be lifted.

However, the Civil Aviation Authority went to the Court of Appeal and the decision is that the suspension should remain in place until the authority's investigation is completed, possibly by Friday.
