Hospital pay deal achieved

6:01 am on 5 May 2011

Junior hospital doctors have agreed to a pay settlement with district health boards, after more than a year of negotiating.

The settlement was reached last month and the Resident Doctors Association announced on Wednesday night that its members had voted to accept it.

National president Curtis Walker says a proposal by the DHBs to reduce doctors' terms and conditions is excluded from the agreement.

But their pay will not go up from a 2% rise that most health sector employees got last year.

The settlement will expire next March.
