Climate change negotiators meet in NZ

9:39 am on 26 July 2011

More than 60 international climate change negotiators are meeting for two days in Auckland, ahead of the next major United Nations meeting in December.

Climate Change Negotiations Minister Tim Groser says the meeting, on Monday and Tuesday, is focusing on the crucial issue of transparency around emissions reductions.

He says negotiators need to agree on how to measure, report and verify individual countries' actions to make sure the global effort is on track

Mr Groser, who facilitated agreement on this issue in Cancun last December, will lead discussions around reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
