A New Zealand man has been remanded in custody in Perth, after allegedly setting his girlfriend alight.
A Perth police spokesperson says the couple was arguing at a park on Tuesday, when the 22-year-old man allegedly doused his girlfriend with a flammable liquid and ignited it.
He says the woman, who is 20, suffered extensive burns to her torso and face and is being treated at Royal Perth Hospital.
The man, who moved to Western Australia 18 months ago, suffered burns to his face, neck and hands.
At a bedside hearing, he was charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
