6:48 pm on 11 April 2014

Hundreds of villagers in Papua New Guinea's Western Highlands, have lost homes and food gardens after severe flooding on Wednesday night.

The newspaper, The National, reports that it's the fourth time the Han River has burst its banks causing havoc for villages in the area.

It reports that the Pentecostal church leader, Peter Kraip, yesterday led a group of villagers and councillors to Mt Hagen to raise their concerns about the regular flooding and call for the river to be diverted.
