In American Samoa, families displaced by last months landslides and flooding are now staying at rental homes paid for by a homeless prevention grant through the Department of Youth and Women's Affairs.
Most of the families are from Gataivai, one of the villages that suffered the most damage.

More than 100 people were evacuated from their homes during the July floods and mudslides.
The Department of Youth and Women's Affairs Deputy Director, Pa'u Roy Ausage, says four of the families are now renting in Tafuna and one is renting in Fagaalu.
Pa'u says the grant can pay the rent for these families for up to 6 months depending on their circumstances.
