Pike families confident Royal Commission will deliver truth

Families of the men killed in the Pike River coal mine have had the logistics of a Royal Commission on the disaster outlined to them at a meeting.

Twenty nine men died in an explosion in the mine on 19 November last year.

The families met their legal representatives on Wednesday night about the inquiry.

Bernie Monk, a spokesperson, says they are confident the Royal Commission will find out the truth about what happened.

He says it will open old wounds, but it will also put added pressure on the mine's receivers to work on recovering the men's remains.
