Prime Minister John Key says he will take the date of the G20 leaders' meeting into account when he picks a day for the general election in 2014.
New Zealand is not a member of the G20 because it is too small, but Australia has invited it to contribute to the deliberations next year. The meeting will be held in Brisbane on 15 and 16 November.
Mr Key said on Monday that date will be a factor in the timing of the election.
The last election in 2011 was held on 26 November.
