Tamaki MP Allan Peachey is withdrawing from politics to focus on his treatment and recovery from cancer.
Mr Peachey, who has held the seat for National since 2005, says he has concluded after long and careful thought that he can't offer his full-time commitment to the people of Tamaki for three years.
He says he will do what he can to make sure the seat maintains its strong voice within National this year.
