Hagley Park cricket submissions close

8:29 pm on 4 February 2013

Public submissions on a proposed international cricket venue in South Hagley Park in Christchurch closed at 5pm on Monday.

Canterbury Cricket plans to an existing cricket pitch developed into an international cricket venue with an embankment about 2.2 metres high that would seat an estimated 12,000 people.

Plans for the venue were in the Rebuild blueprint and are estimated to cost $1.4 million.

Christchurch City Council voted at the end of last year to send Canterbury Crickets resource consent application to the Environment Court.

Submissions from the public will go to the Environment Court. The hearing is expected to be held in Christchurch, in the first half of this year.
