A motorcyclist has severe head and stomach injuries after crashing on the sharp bend of a road near Rotorua.
The Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter says the crash happened before 3pm on Friday in Ngakuru, 25 kilometres southwest of Rotorua.
It says the motorcyclist has been airlifted to Waikato Hospital for emergency surgery.
The rescue helicopter says it was also called out to Omanawa Falls near Tauranga after a 17-year-old girl slipped.
It says a paramedic had to be winched down to where she was to get her out and she was then flown to Tauranga Hospital.
