A search in the Bay of Islands for the partner of a woman whose body was discovered in a swollen stream on Wednesday has been called off for the night.
The search for the man, 41, will resume on Thursday morning.
Police believe the woman, who was in her 40s, was swept away trying to ford the stream by foot on Tuesday night. Her body was found more than a kilometre downstream.
The couple's car was found parked just across the stream from their home on Waikare Valley Road.
About 30 police and volunteers spent much of the day scouring the area for the man.
