From Friday, Wellington residents will be able to have their say on whether the city's trolley buses should stay or go.
The Wellington Regional Council's draft public transport plan, which is now out for consultation, includes a proposal to remove trolley buses in 2017.
An initial evaluation found they can slow journeys and would require significant capital investment and maintenance of the overhead networks.
The council is evaluating other options including modern diesel buses, hybrid buses or electric buses.
Submissions on the plan is open until 9 May.
