Whangarei police are making door-to-door inquiries today in the suburb of Tikipunga, after a fatal stabbing.
A 60-year-old man was in custody, charged with assault, following the death of a 25-year-old man at a house early on Tuesday morning after what the police described as a violent altercation.
The names of both men were suppressed.
Police were now speaking to neighbours who might have seen or heard something which would help with the inquiry.
