Christchurch police are appealing for witnesses after an 11-year-old boy says a man pulled him off his bicycle and assaulted him in the suburb of Hornby.
The police said the boy was cycling on a footpath in the Broomfield area of Hornby early in the evening when a man walking towards him pulled him off his bicycle and assaulted him.
The boy managed to break free and cycle home, where his family called the police.
