Catering company receives penalty fines

A West Coast catering company has been billed more than $10,000 in penalties after failing to pay an employee holiday pay.

Greymouth's Chez Beirne Catering and Homestay owed the employee more than $6000 in holiday pay.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment found the business had failed to provide a copies of employment agreements, time, wage and holiday records despite multiple requests.

Chez Beirne has been fined $4000 for not complying with the Holidays Act and must pay all the money owed to the former employee.
