Police divers and the Navy will today continue an underwater search for a kayaker who went missing on Lake Coleridge in inland Canterbury at the weekend.
The missing man is in the army and was last seen on Sunday morning.
Police said he went to Lake Coleridge on his own on Saturday and was not participating in any military exercise or training.
So far, more than an acre of the lake floor had been searched.
Defence Force personnel yesterday carried out a land search with some of the missing man's friends and family.
Part of Coleridge Intake Road would remain closed while the operation was underway.
