Police have found the body of an 80-year-old man in floodwater near Sladden Park in Petone, Lower Hutt.

The man's car was found submerged in water at about 11.30am on Thursday, with the keys in the ignition.
Staff searched the area and located the man's body in water near his vehicle late in the afternoon.
The police said it was not known what bearing the flooding had on his death, and there were no suspicious circumstances.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
