Joshua Olykan came home to his parents' Hei Hei property on Saturday morning to discover 14 animals dead or badly injured.

Seven sheep were also killed on two neighbouring properties.

A farmer who lives near the properties found two dogs attacking his sheep on Saturday afternoon, and shot them.

Christchurch City Council dog control collected the dead dogs this morning.

The owners of the dogs had been identified and the council is taking enforcement action against them.

A council spokeswoman said, at this stage, it was unclear whether the two dogs were responsible for killing the sheep on the Olykan family's property.

Mr Olykan said with the two dogs handed in, he hoped there would be no further problems in their area.
