A bus carrying six school children has overturned on a rural road near Wellington.
The children, aged about 6 or 7, were on a school outing when the accident happened on South Makara Road, just before 9am.
Constable Neil Kelland said the children were all wearing their seatbelts.
Ambulances, a fire truck and a rescue helicopter rushed to the scene, but they were not needed.
The children were checked for injury, with one child suffering a cut to their lip, but they were returned to school after the crash.
Constable Kelland said the cause of the accident was not yet known.
