A 17-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a car near Westport.
The teenager and a 16-year-old friend were walking from Carters Beach towards Westport on Cape Foulwind Road at about 6.30am on Friday.
Police say it appears the youth had walked into the path of an oncoming car and the driver was unable to avoid him.
