Kiwifruit movement restrictions to be lifted

6:02 am on 3 December 2010

Movement restrictions placed on kiwifruit orchards infested with the PSA vine killing disease begin to be lifted from 3 December.

The Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry will withdraw restricted place notices and issue affected growers with orchard management guidelines.

The documents will outline their obligations under the Biosecurity Act as well as instructing the growers on how to move back to full orchard operations, while minimising the risk of PSA spreading.

Growers will be allowed greater flexibility to move equipment and personnel between orchards, including those affected by the disease.
