Sculling champ says current squad the best ever

Updated at 9:33am on 31 August 2009

The New Zealand sculling great Mahe Drysdale believes the current squad is the best he's been involved with in his nine-year career.

They've come away with four gold medals from the world championships in Poland, adding two more on the final day through lightweight single sculler Duncan Grant and the lightweight double scullers Storm Uru and Peter Taylor, their first world senior title.

Drysdale, who became a four time world champion over the weekend, says Rowing New Zealand has the right structures in place, there's a special magic within the squad, and the championships in Poznan have been a great way to start the new Olympic cycle.
