Waitakere United has appointed Neil Emblen as head coach coming 2009/10 New Zealand Football Championship season.

Emblen has played for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, then as an import for the New Zealand Knights in the Australian National League.

He began coaching work while playing two seasons with Waitakere and being instrumental in the team making two appearances at the FIFA Club World Cup.

He says will be able to take up his new coaching job and continue as a player through the support of his two assistant coaches, Darren Bazeley and Carl Jorgenson.

Emblen replaces Chris Milicich, who took Waitakere United to an unprecedented double in 2008 with the NZFC and O-League titles.
