The former head of the Immigration Service is facing three fraud charges relating to her curriculum vitae.

Mary Anne Thompson appeared in Wellington District Court on Friday.

She faces two charges that she used a curriculum vitae for the purpose of obtaining for herself a pecuniary advantage.

Those charges relate to events in November 1989 and November 1998.

A third charge relating to April 2004 accuses Ms Thompson of attempting to dishonestly use a curriculum vitae with intent to obtain a pecuniary advantage.

Ms Thompson resigned after being accused of a conflict of interest regarding the immigration status of members of her extended family.

Questions about her qualifications arose during a subsequent investigation by the State Services Commission.

Ms Thompson will reappear in court on 12 December.
