Police have quashed speculation a television set was involved in the death of an inmate at Auckland Prison on Sunday morning.
However, no other details have been issued abouit the death, which police describe as suspicious.
A a postmortem is being held on Monday morning.
The prisoner was the second to have died recently at Paremoremo.
Convicted killer Antonie Dixon was found dead in his cell on 4 February.
He was awaiting sentence for murder and maiming two women with a samurai sword in 2003.
