The Auckland Regional Transport Authority says it has not been lobbying the Government to continue operating.
The Auckland Regional Council wants the authority scrapped and its functions brought back inside the new super-city council, when it is formed next year.
Acting ARC chairman Michael Barnett says he was disappointed to learn from a Cabinet minister that ARTA had been putting forward its own views.
ARTA chief executive Fergus Gammie says the authority has been responding to questions rather than lobbying.
The regional council says it has made its displeasure known to Mr Gammie.
Under the Local Government (Auckland Reorganisation) Bill, the eight councils in Auckland will go out of existence on 1 November 2010.
