3:16 pm on 24 September 2009

The Solicitor General has been succcesful in stopping all the assets of Napier gunman Jan Molenaar being sold.

Molenaar killed a police officer and critically wounded two others and a resident, before barricading himself inside his house. He was found dead two days later.

At the time, Superintendent Rod Drew said Jan Molenaar had been growing and dealing in cannabis for over ten years, and couldn't accept the possibility of his house and possessions being confiscated.

Molenaar's partner Delwyn Keefe is due to be sentenced next month on drugs charges.

Justice Potter has today issued a restraining order in favour of the Solicitor-General over the house the couple lived in and more than $90,000 in cash and bank deposits.

The order means that once Delwyn Keefe is sentenced the Solicitor-General can apply for all the assets to be forfeited to the Crown.
