Brent Impey is stepping down from his role as chief executive of MediaWorks after 10 years at the helm.
MediaWorks has decided to split its television and radio divisions, and find new chief executives for each.
The radio arm will be now run by its current chief operating officer Sussan Turner, while a search is currently underway for a new television chief executive.
In a statement, Mr Impey says he will remain in a part-time consultancy role with the company until 2011 to ensure a smooth transition.
