Wearing jandals bad for the body - study

9:38 pm on 9 March 2010

A study has found that prolonged wearing of jandals has long-term impacts on the body.

The study, conducted by Auburn University in Alabama, in says that jandals are not designed to support the foot, nor for walking long distances.

A doctor of biomechanics at Auburn University, Dr Wendi Weimar, says wearing jandals will change the structure of the body.

She says if the angle of the ankle is exaggerated, it takes more muscle involvement to compensate, and could contribute to lower leg pain.

Dr Weimar also warns of the danger of wearing worn-out jandals.
