Sudananese president now in Chad despite arrest warrant

President Omar El Bashir of Sudan has landed in neighbouring Chad despite an international arrest warrant for him for charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.

The International Criminal Court had been pressuring Chad to arrest him in connection with the violence in Sudan's Darfur region.

President Bashir has visited many countries since the arrest warrant was issued, but this is the first time he has risked arrest by travelling to a member state of the ICC.

However, the BBC reports the two countries decided to "bury the hatchet" earlier this year.
