Hunting of wolves banned by judge

A federal judge in the United States has banned the hunting of wolves in Montana and Idaho.

Judge Donald Molloy said on Thursday that a decision to remove protection for wolves in the two western states, while leaving it in place in Wyoming, had been a political move.

Judge Molloy said the entire northern Rocky Mountain wolf population either had to be listed as an endangered species, or removed from the list entirely.
