The number of tourists visiting New Zealand last month was the highest ever for July.
Statistics New Zealand figures show 182,900 visitors arrived.
There were more arrivals from Asian countries, with the largest increase from China - up 3900 - compared with the same month last year.
New Zealanders made 5% more overseas trips, but there were fewer trips to the United Kingdom.
Overall, the country gained 1000 permanent residents in July - reversing what has been a steady decline in the previous year.
