Kaitaia doctor Lance O'Sullivan says he's joined a private inquiry into how to stop child abuse and domestic violence - because it has nothing to do with the Government.
Dr O'Sullivan has become part of a group of experts on the Glenn Inquiry, founded by the wealthy businessman and philanthropist Sir Owen Glenn.
It aims to come up with solutions - and it will ask the Government to commit to long-term action.
Sir Owen has a commercial record of getting things done, says Dr O'Sullivan, a Northland GP.
He says bureaucracy makes the wheels of progress turn slowly, and he's excited to be part of something that won't be hindered by Government officials.
Dr O'Sullivan - of Te Rarawa, Ngati Hau and Ngati Maru - says the goal is to make New Zealand safe for all tamariki.
