Māori and Pacific post-graduate research students will require a slightly lower grade point average to be guaranteed a scholarship from Auckland University.
The tertiary education provider has upped its number of doctoral scholarships from 138 to 200 new scholarships each year.
Domestic students from any university in the country with a GPA of 8.0 will be guaranteed a scholarship, while Māori and Pacific students require a GPA of 7.5.
The University of Auckland said the move was in line with its commitment to enhance the participation and success of Māori and Pacific students.
